Day 3

Hands-on cooking lesson begins at 10:00 am. Your cooking lesson menu will include a multi-course menu, followed by a leisurely lunch based on the fruits of your labor.

In the late afternoon/early evening, you will visit Trevi and the Frantoio Gaudenzi.

Located on a promontory above the Valle Umbra, Trevi has a strikingly picturesque appearance for those who approach the city from the valley. Admired by poets, painters or simple travelers during the centuries, Trevi still fascinates the modern visitors who wander peacefully in the medieval piazzas and streets enjoying the quiet atmosphere of ancient times. The city is enriched by important Romanesque and Gothic churches such as the Cathedral of St. Emiliano, the city patron, and the church of St. Francis, that currently houses the city museum with major works of Renaissance painters such as the Coronation of the Virgin by Lo Spagna.

Thanks to the good quality of olive oil locally produced, Trevi is also known as the “capital of olive oil”.

Set on the slopes of a hill covered with olive groves and crowned with the Umbrian gem of Trevi, the Frantoio Gaudenzi, a national prize rewarded olive mill, has been producing superior D.O.P extra virgin olive oil for the past sixty years.
The tradition was first started in 1950 when the family took over an old “Molino di Cipolla”, located in the Umbrian valley near the river Clitunno. It was in those years that Vittorio, father of the present owner, started with love and passion the production of olive oil that would lead the members of the family to increase throughout the years quality and quantity with the implementing of the newest tools in the production of olive oil.

Today, Francesco and his wife Rossana run the olive mill and the farm with care and love, constantly guaranteeing the same highest quality of olive oil. Of particular importance is a special selection of three different kinds of extra virgin olive oil that thanks to the special soil of the area and the different variety of olives – such as the “moraiolo”, “frantoio” and “leccino” is considered among the best in Italy. Enjoy a visit to the Frantoio Gaudenzi where you taste delicous products made with Umbrian olive oil as a key ingredient.

Day 4

Hands-on cooking lesson starts at 10:00 am. You will prepare a four-course lunch to include a meal based on your creations.

Today you will visit the Abbey of Montelabate and the city of Gubbio. Located in the gentle Umbrian hills, the monumental Abbey of Montelabate is one of the many witnesses of the benedictine presence in the Umbrian region. The huge structure is surrounded by an inspiring silence remembering centuries of prayers and work around a splendid cloister.

Even after having been abandoned for years and passed in private property, it still is the seat of a factory producing quality products and keeping the surrounding environment intact. In this way it maintains its original function of managing the territory. By visiting Montelabate you financially help the foundation Istituto di Pediatria Gaslini di Genova with the protection and assistance to infancy.

The visit includes: Visit of the Abbey, tasting of the local products, walking tour on the factory grounds.

Gubbio is among Europe's best conserved medieval towns. A walk through its alleys is like going back in time. The main square is a daring construction, a so-called hanging-square upon which rises an impressive town-hall: the Palace of the Consuls. It is a museum today that houses the only written testimony of the autochtonous Umbrian population (the so-called seven bronze tablets of Gubbio) and beautiful 'lustred' ceramics.

During the half-day excursion you will be accompained by a professional english-speaking guide.
