During your stay you will join your host family for a few days of wonderful excursions, including shopping at fresh markets and visits to local food producers.
You also have the opportunity to visit traditional producers of Parmigiano Reggiano, extra virgin olive oil, Prosciutto di Parma, aged balsamic vinegar plus other specialties and handcrafted products of the region.
Day One
Meet at Bologna airport or train station.
Private transfer and accommodation in an apartment, private and completely independent, situated in the heart of Bologna, 5 minutes walking from the Two Towers, symbol of Bologna, and from the main square.
Day Two
In the early morning we leave to visit a Parmigiano Reggiano --parmesan cheese-- factory to see all the steps in the production of the "king of the cheeses", learn about how to recognize the real Parmigiano Reggiano --parmesan cheese--and finish the visit with a tasting of the product at various ages.
Then you will proceed to a Balsamic Vinegar producer nearby for the visit. During the visit you see where the Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena is aged and it is explained how Balsamico is produced and how to recognize the real one. The visit ends with a tasting of the product at various ages, up to 25 years old.
After the visits back to Bologna.
Afternoon and dinner free, after a busy day, for a rest or walking in Bologna center.

Day Three
In the morning you walk to Bologna central food market, that consists of a couple of narrow roads with beautiful and colorful stands and shops showing fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses, local salumi. At the market we explain about the traditional regional products such as Mortadella of Bologna, Prosciutto di Parma, Culatello and others and buy the ingredients for our afternoon cooking lesson.
Free lunch and free time to stroll in Bologna center.
In the afternoon hands-on cooking class based on traditional recipes of Emilia Romagna region.
You will learn how to make egg-pasta from scratch, knead with your hands and roll with the rolling-pin. We will make some of the most famous recipes of Bologna such as tortellini in broth, tagliatelle with ragu' alla bolognese --bolognese meat sauce--, tortelloni with ricotta and spinach filling, lasagna.
After the cooking class, that lasts 3-4 hours, you taste what you have prepared together for our farewell dinner in family.
